Dr. Martin Kassir lectured at the 7th Spring Symposium of the EADV (European Academy of Dermatology & Venereology) on HOW TO CHOOSE A LASER and LASER COMPLICATIONS. In this lecture various lasers were reviewed (Lasers for hair removal, lasers for vascular or red lesions, lasers for pigmented lesions or age spots, lasers for tattoo removal, lasers for rejuvenation and wrinkles, IPL devices for vascular and pigmented lesions, and other energy based devices). Dermatologists attending the session learned from Dr. Martin Kassir who to evaluate each laser, what the specific indications were for each laser, and how to compare each device's specifications with other devices in the same category. As many lasers and esthetic devices exist and at very high costs, having these tools to choose the correct laser for your patients' needs is key for both the physician and the patients in the practice. Dr. Martin Kassir had the opportunity to meet Dr. Luitgard Wiest, a world expert and author on chemical peels, at this meeting. These two experts had the opportunity to exchange ideas and compare and contrast the efficacy of lasers versus chemical peels for wrinkles and age spots.
