Botox: Pearls & Pitfalls

“Botox: Pearls and Pitfalls” was the title of Dr. Kassir's first ever lecture in the Philippines @ the Annual Meeting of the Philippine Society of Cutaneous Medicine. In a comprehensive review of Botox (Botulinum Toxin A) Dr. Martin Kassir reviewed the mechanism of action and clinical uses of Botox. Use of Botox for forehead, glabellar, and periocular lines (forehead lines & lines around the eye) was reviewed including the latest injection techniques and "danger areas" to avoid while injecting. Potential complication of Botox were reviewed including various techniques to manage these complications if they should occur. Dr. Kassir also lectured on DERMAL FILLERS. He reviewed the latest available fillers at the time. Dermal fillers are used to "fill" areas in the face to replace volume loss. Which filler for which area? How does one decide when to do filler injections? How to construct a beautiful lip with fillers? Is it better to use collagen or hyaluronic acid (HAs) or other fillers? All this questions were extensively reviewed followed by quite an interactive question & answer session.
